Baby Signing and 1st day of daycare

I am a teacher in a classroom of toddlers ranging in ages from 12 to 18 months.
Last Monday was a new child's first day of school and shortly before lunch time she was a little fussy.
I verbally asked her if she would like a drink while making the sign motion for it and her eyes lit up; however, when I said it was water she shook her head no and signed "milk".
I was thrilled that her parents had been working on signing with her for she was able to tell me exactly what she wanted!!!
