Marjorie (Life is Easier, Baby Signing Story)

My daughter Marjorie just turned one year old (August 11th). She has been signing since she could control her hands (about 5 months old).

She can do:

-milk

-more

-all done

-water

-please

-thank you

-dog

-eat

-help

-twinkle twinkle little star

-itsy bitsy spider

-hi/bye

-blow kisses

-hot

-so big

She sometimes alters the signs and puts her own twist on it. The sign for dog (that we use) is to slap your leg. She has changed the sign to slap her chest, and that means for someone to come here. Kind of like calling a dog, but calling people.

Sign language has saved us from having a communication barrier. She is able to tell me what she wants, and we are a happier family because of it.
