Steve' s story. (Toddler Sign Language)

thats our boy!!

thats our boy!!

Steve is 2 1/2 years old, he just has not wanted to communicate with us verbally. This would get very frustrating for all of us.

I called Early Childhood Intervention, and they suggested signing. So daddy & I started to learn baby sign language so that we could teach him.

Not only is he able to let us know what he wants and needs but he is actually saying the words aloud!

We are so thrilled that we are now able to communicate with our son, Steve.

Anyone who has any concerns, don't!

It helped us get through all the frustrations and he is picking up the speaking everyday, it encourages him!!!

Note from editor: Katy, what a wonderful and inspiring baby sign language story for others to draw courage from!

Isn't baby sign language utterly amazing? Thank you for sharing with us and other parents, educators, and caregivers for children.

Keep up the great job, Steve! :-)

My son is 2 1/2 too and won't talk, but he loves to sign. I really hope he follows after your story and starts talking!

inspiration for a mother of 2 year old

I am so glad I ran across your story! I have a little boy who is just over 2 years old and he doesn't have many words in his vocabulary but a ton of babbling.

A friend of mine suggested teaching him sign language and now more then ever I think it is the right course to take! Thank you for sharing your story!
